Psychiatry Services

Psychiatry at VCCS

**All psychiatry services will be offered through telehealth on a secure video platform, for the purpose of maintaining the health and safety of our students and counselors**

Dr. Mary Cruser is a part-time psychiatrist who works three days a week providing medication evaluations and follow-up care. Due to the high demand for psychiatric services it is impossible for all students to be treated on campus. In order to access the psychiatrist, students will need to be referred by and be in on-going treatment with a counselor at VCCS. Students who are primarily desiring medication management will be encouraged to continue receiving medication from their doctor at home or will be provided with community referrals. Dr. Cruser also periodically refers students to Deborah Zale, Physician's Assistant at Baldwin, once students are stabilized on their medication for continuity of care. Ms. Zale also functions as a back-up to Dr. Cruser if there are any medication concerns since the psychiatrist is only on campus part-time. Dr. Cruser is only available to meet with students during the academic year (September-May).
